Will my motherboard destroy other parts of my pc?

I have a z77 motherboard and a b75 motherboard. I now use the b75 motherboard with no problem. I want to replace the b75 motherboard with a b75 motherboard. But recently I discovered that the z77 motherboard that I had lying around in an open air test bench had cat piss on it (kitty is fine). So i cleaned it up really good with alcohol, tissues, compressed air and cotton swabs. I want to test if the motherboard still works, even though my cat pissed on it while it was plugged in but I don't want to risk other components as well.

So here's my question. Is it possible that my defective motherboard will damage other components of my pc, for example an i5 3470?

Thanks

As they say, anything is possible. But I would guess that if it didn't get damaged when the er, uh, contamination occurred, it's fine now. It probably depends on how long it sat in the contaminated state. I don't have a clue about the chemistry of cat urine but that's where the danger lies - the possibility that it etched the circuit board.

My guess is that if it looks OK, it probably is. You might want to blow it off with a hair dryer on the low heat setting beforehand to make sure you get all of the alcohol and possible other residue off of the board.

In the end, there's only one way to know for sure and that's to try it - or not.
