Use Xbox One controller on Pc?

So Ive tried plugging my xbox one controller into my pc so I can play rocket league better with my friends. I plugged it in, it vibrated but no light came on. It said installing drivers and stuff like that but still didnt work. I downloaded the drivers manually and tried that which did nothing. Ive tried going into device manager and it says the driver is up to date. Will updating to windows 10 do anything cause apparently its connectivity with the xbox is alot better than win 7. Thanks!

I would say you should try win 10 like you said....
Have you considered buying a 360 controller? I dont know if you want to spend the money on buying a new controller, but it is easier...

I have the 360 controller too but I need a different cable. Ive heard somewhere that maybe I only have a charging cable and not a data cable? I dont know
