Hello guys, I have recently built myself a new system (fairly high end gaming pc) and since i have had nothing but bother. When i first built it (about 2 months ago) the mobo temps have been reaching sometimes 55 degree c+ on idle. And cpu temps are sometimes going from 25 to 50 degree c+. I will post specs of pc below. I contacted ASUS and they told me to take out the cmos battery, disconnect from power and hold the power button to completely discharge all power from the pc, reseat the battery and that should help, which it did but i still seem to be getting random spikes. It also seems to spike a lot when my cpu is under load. I used prime95 just to check and when my cpu was at 72+ so was my mobo, it was hitting 70 degree c!! I found that very unusual and worrying. Also when i play some games and have the pc under decent load, my mobo and cpu temps are constantly fluctuating, i think there is something wrong with one of my water cooling fans as i can hear them spinning up and down, thats how i know its fluctuating.

I would sometimes encounter some lag and thought it was because my drives are full. Recently formatted my computer and now its lagging harder than ever. Even when i open chrome for the first time it will not let me click on the search bar for up to 3 seconds. When im also in game my fps will drop from 60 fps to 20 or so when i turn my character. Im completely baffed on what could possibly be wrong. I thought that maybe it was a software problem. I am going to completely uninstall windows 10 as i dont really like it and install windows 7 again. But i have no idea what else to do or maybe something faulty in my new system.

Specs -
Mobo: ROG Maximus VIII Formula
CPU: I7 6700k 1151 socket
Cooler: Corsair GTX 100i
GPU: R9 390x 8GB
PSU: Corsair RM850
RAM: Core White Series 16GB DDR4

Any input on the matter would be greatly appreciated

I assumed you do oc the i7, from one review ( legitreviews ) they did the temperature testing on the same i7, and found " In stock form the Intel Core i7-6700K has different Voltages for each core and they are dynamic. When you overclock or manually set the voltage you override that parameter and all the cores are set to the same voltage. Even after manually setting the voltage to 1.35V on the core we were still seeing a 11-17C temperature difference between the core 2 and the others. We’ll have to ask Intel if there is any reason to that!"

Also here is other review they list the oc setting in some of the MB, you can use it for reference, and maybe reseat the cooler too. If you didn't oc the cpu, and you had that temp spike, and I don't what casued.

I have not oc my cpu and is sitting at stock speeds of 4ghz. It's more my mobo temperature that I am worried about. It spikes at the same temperature as the cpu when under load. I am going to have a better look at it when I get home from work and strip my pc down and reseat everything to see if that helps. Thanks for the replyrics though
