Hi everyone,

I'm reaching you with a simple but quite troublesome problem that I have since already some time. I'm running on a 10 meter ethernet cable connected to the router (netgear dgnd4000) and I'm experiencing drops in the connection when browsing. So I will try to be as much clear as I can.

- certaing youtube videos buffer really slow or not at all
- other videos are perfect in 1080p or 720p
- online games are ok (Overwatch 30 ms ping)
- some advertising buffer ok other times the same ones not
- with speedtest downloadspeed is really low, other times is really fast
- opening pictures from browsers is really slow or not working
- overall speed is ok. For most of the time I can just browse with no problem, still it is weird considering that on my macbook everything is loading ok always.
- seems to happen also using other browsers, still I favorite is Chrome (with Hardware acceleration off)

Many thanks for you upcoming replies.

Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help.
- First do install the latest BIOS version.
- Here's the link: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/SocketAM3+/M5A97_R2.0/M5A97-R20-ASUS-2603.zip?_ga=1.153112634.305422646.1455979617
- Do check the version of your BIOS first to verify if you need this.
- Next to try is to uninstall/reinstall the LAN driver.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the LAN driver.
- Once completely uninstalled, download and install the latest driver.
- Here's the link: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/lan/LAN_Realtek_V10_1_505_2015_Win10_S5_WOL.zip?_ga=1.267736972.305422646.1455979617
- Reboot the PC once the driver has been installed then observe if the same problem will persist or not.
- if these will still not work try loading in Safe Mde with Network and observe if the same problem will persist or not.
- And lastly, try doing a clean install of Windows 10 and see if that will make any difference.

Thanks for the troubleshooting.
I did check both BIOS and LAN driver, the first one is up to date, the second one I unistalled and reinstalled although it was updated. Tried also on Safe Mode and so far no major improvement has been seen, still have to try a clean install of windows 10 but I do think is not that because also on Windows 8.1 I had similar problems.
