I'm sorry you are facing some issues with your WD drive.
Do you get some kind of an error message?
I believe you can try a couple of things:
- Attach the drive with a different cable to another system. That way, you will rule out a possible driver related issue.
- Test the drive with WD's Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool. Run both short and extended tests: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=6hWfMW
- See how is the drive recognized by Disk Management and Device Manager.

Right click the drive in My Computer / This PC and go to the tools tab. Click error checking, and select all the options you can for your your OS version.
Report back once you're done, it'll take a while to check a drive that large.
