My PC crashes when i play games. For example sometimes it will completely shut down and restart with starting up Skyrim. It will do this a couple times then play fine. Sometimes it will play fine then randomly shut down and restart. No error message just a black screen and restart. It has crashed on Minecraft with no error. It will crash with 2D games like Enter The Gungeon and Hotline Miami but with an error message. I built this PC about a month ago. I was having blue screen errors that would usually have to do with memory before but they have stopped for a week somehow after I took the RAM out and put it back in the other slots and back to the original slots. The temps of my GPU usually are maximum 71C and high 60s for my CPU. There is no dust buildup because it is so new and I have used compressed air on it multiple times to clean it. Sometimes when i tab in and out of skyrim i get an error message saying the NVIDIA driver has stopped and successfully recovered, but it doesnt crash Skyrim. This is extremely frustrating and I feel as if I have wasted money on PC gaming. My specs are:

Intel I5 6600k
EVGA Geforce GTX 980 Ti
EVGA Platinum series 650 Watt power supply
16GB (2x 8GB) Corsair Vengeance LPX RAM
ASUS Z170-a MOBO
WD 1TB HDD

I think my PSU is not enough wattage or it is faulty. Or possibly my GPU is faulty or doesnt receive enough power. Any help is appreciated

Hi, It sounds like a temperature problem on the cpu?
There are an inbuilt safety function that will shutdown the processor to prevent damage to it, if it gets overheated.

The reason could be that the cpu:s top plate doesn't have proper contact with the cpu cooler.
Is it a stock cpu cooler that was premounted or perhaps you did by you self, or is it a third party cpu cooler?
Not sure but plausible in Your case.

If it is Intel original, please see this instruction, don't worry that it is for a socket 1150/1155

Very important that these steps are fulfilled 100%. for the cooler installation.

Download and install HWmonitor, be careful during installtion to uncheck any third party program.
Run HW monitor > start the game for couple of minutes or as long it will take it to max temp > quit the game => take reading on HWmonitor in its Max column and post the temps.
Or in the menu > File > Save monitoring data > post the text file.

Thanks for the reply. I installed a cryorig h7 cooler myself. I do use HWMonitor and the high temps of my CPU really only gets to 69c. I guess I'll try again to see if temps get high during play. Is there a way I can automatically save temps if it crashes?
UPDATE: I just played skyrim and left HWMonitor on and i didnt get to see the temps but it crashed and restarted. Then i got back on and all i did was start to use google chrome and it crashed and restarted again.

Ok well, I really don't know what to think of right know, but check for corrupted Windows system files:
Run SystemFileChecker sfc /scannow as an Administrator ( preferable in fail safe mode):

Start > just type cmd > in the list right click on Command prompt and 'Run as Administrator' > in the Command prompt window type sfc /scannow
See this Microsoft guide and follow the instructions: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki/windows_10-update/system-file-check-sfc-scan-and-repair-system-files/bc609315-da1f-4775-812c-695b60477a93

Best regards from Sweden

Thank you, I am running the scan now. Also earlier, I turned on my PC and left for a few minutes and it had restarted. I didn't sign in or click or anything. It just restarted itself without me touching anything. Could maybe the restart wire or switch is messed up?
UPDATE: I ran sfc /scannow and it said "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."
