To start off, here's a sound clip of the noise.

The PSU in question is the EVGA 650W GQ.

Alright, so here's a bit of a back story. Bought this around the beginning of May. The extent of it's use has been turning it on for a few minutes just to check if it was working/my newly built computer was functioning properly. It was completely silent and functional; the condition was pristine.

Thursday, I bought an SSD and put it in. Since I had a component for storage now, it was time to install the OS. So I did that, and that's when I began to notice the buzzing/noise.

This PSU features an "ECO" mode, which I'm sure a lot of you are aware of. Basically, the PSU's fan won't turn on unless the PSU exceeds a certain temperature. Turning the PSU on for 5 seconds will not cause it to reach that temperature. What I'm saying is, it's very likely this is not the fan. In fact, when I turn off the ECO mode, this sound is not even present when the fan is active. Weird, right?

Should I use the warranty and return this or something? Even if it's not hazardous, it's really fucking annoying. Ideally, if someone could pose a solution, that'd be great.

Oh yeah, here's my build. Let me know if pictures are needed.

I can't make out the sound in that clip. It sounds like you depressed the power button on your chassis. Most often coil whine has been used an excuse to return the unit on grounds that it is not up to manufacturers specs or that there is concern over it's stability and long term operation. I'd say to contact EVGA or your seller or both and ask them to replace it for you.

Nice build btw ;)
