I am upgrading fully working ASUS K8V-MX-EAYKZ (latest BIOS 0501) 1GB RAM with AMD Sempron 3000+ to AMD Athlon 64 3400+.
Currently there is nothing attached to MB except of monitor directly to MB, keyboard, USB mouse and speakers. System boots from USB OK.
After replacing CPU system won't boot at all, monitor is black, no beep from the case speaker.
After replacing CPU back to the old one system boots with the message something like "new CPU was discovered - press F12 to run SETUP" and after exiting boots normally from USB. When booting one more time no more message about new CPU.
According to ASUS my MB supports new CPU: "validated since BIOS 0112" and mine is 0501.
What can be a problem: wrong BIOS setup for a new CPU or faulty CPU? Have anybody experienced anything like that with this particular MB/CPU combination?
