Multiple graphic cards with multiple monitors

I am running win10 64bit with an ASUS HD 7700 gpu running two monitors (expansion mode) one from the HDMI output and the second from the DVI output.
I have a third older LCD (VGA) monitor that I would like to be able to duplicate the main/primary display on.
Running the first two out of the DI, and HDMI ports and the third from the DVI with an 'adapter' doesn't work.
I have a couple of other graphics cards. One of these with an additional PCI 3.0 slot available on my motherboard should I be able to run the third older monitor by itself? And if so, should a DVI/VGA adapter suffice or would I need an actual converter if the graphics card does not have a VGA output?

Side note... If a converter is used instead of the 'adapter' is it possible that the ASUS 7700 card would then support the third monitor?
Thanks so much for any ideas here!

That GPU can support up to 6 monitors. You should be able to do this with just the one card. Which model card exactly is it? The DVI connectors are different by model.
If you have DVI-D ports you'll need a converter, but these can be found in cable form.
If you have DVI-I or DVI-A then a simple adapter will work just fine.
To get this to work you may need to run a splitter off the connection you want to duplicate, so that will need to be in a DVI.
