Hello everyone, i have some statements to make along with some questions i hope some people can help answer.

First off, i have an old system i dont use much that I want to revive, it has windows XP and a gtx 260, 8gb of ram, and an amd x4 quad 4.ghz, i was planning on upgrading the os to an old copy of win 7 64bit i have.

It is also linked to my steam account where i have some new games like gtav and the pc meets its required hardware specs but the card runs directx 9. (game requires 11)

will updating the os also add directx 11 or is based on the gpu alone? ive asked around and everyone i ask says the 260 is too old for directx 11 but ive seen tons of people on youtube run gtav with a gtx 260.

How does this work for others if the game required directx 11?
(keep in mind i havent tested it on my system yet)

Is there a way to update it? Is there some type of way these people are bypassing the requirement?

Any help will be much appreciated.

(sorry, didnt know what category to list this under)

Solution
Gta V allows you to select DirectX10 from the menu (or even the start options/config file) so I would guess that even if the card has issues with dx11 or can't handle it at all,it will still play with dx10.

(New os adds new dx version but the card has to support it as well if the game demands it)
