I'm not sure if I have the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti
or the Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600
When I look in the device manager it says I have both, however when I open dxdiag and look under the displays tab it only shows the Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600. Furthermore I had the NVIDIA software installed on my computer so I'm not sure about this whole situation :c

When I tried to disable the intel graphics card my computer screen went blank and I had to fiddle around with the CMOS to get it working again and I don't want to risk doing that again. I want my system to use the NVIDIA card. For example, on Minecraft when you press F3 it shows which graphics card it is using and currently it shows it's using the Intel graphics card which is not the desired one for gaming. I want it to use the NVIDIA card.

Solution
I'm assuming it's laptop with switchable graphics adapters.

The Intel one is used by Windows itself (that's why screen went blank when you disabled it).

The Nvidia one will be used for games or graphics applications only if you set the game or application to use it.

Right-click the Minecraft shortcut to open the context-menu.
Now go down the menu and choose "Run with graphics processor >> High performance Nvidia processor"
Minecraft will open using the Nvidia processor.

To set the Nvidia processor as the default for Minecraft, use the Nvidia Control Panel >> Manage 3D Settings. dialogue box in Windows Control Panel.

Procedure above is the same for any other games or applications where you want the Nvidia GPU to be...
