i have an old mother board GA-H61M-S2P-B3, just want to ask if a core i7-3970x will work on it? big thank.. :)

No, That cpu is socket 2011 and your motherboard is socket 1155.

Only a socket 1155 cpu will work, socket 1156, 1150, and 1151 cpu will not work. For a list compatible cpus please refer to the gigabyte link.
