I was just wondering, I have a Titan X and will be getting the GTX 1080 on June 10th, 2016. My question is, are the GTX Titan X and the GTX 1080 SLI compatible with each other? Thanks :)

No, it doesn't use SLI, it uses DX12 multi-GPU capabilities. You can mix and match even across AMD to Nvidia. You cannot SLI a Titan X and a 1080. SLI doesn't mean using 2 GPUs, it's specifically using SLI. There is a difference.

Alright then allow me to rephrase the question I originally had to be more specific with what I'm looking for: I own a GTX Titan X SC. I am playing fallout 4 and using a lot of mods for the game (over 100 now), and I'm wondering if there is anything that I can use to combine with my Titan X (not going to use the term "SLI" because that seems to be a sensitive word to use) to be able to get even better graphics processing out of it?

Also, I am using this on a Samsung 48 inch 1080p 60Hz LED Smart TV. Is there any card that can run in the manner for which a person utilizes two cards at the same time that are performing together to process gaming graphics when one of the cards is already a GTX Titan X SC? With all of the mods I'm running I'm still seeing a little bit of lag so I'm trying to determine where I can upgrade to make it so no matter what I experience no lag no matter how many mods I'm using in Fallout 4.

Computer Specs relevant to this subject:
Processor: i7-5960X
CPU Cooler: H100i
GPU: Titan X SC
Memory: 32 GB of DDR4 2137
Monitor: Samsung 48" LED Smart TV currently set at 75Hz.
Other questions I can think of:
If I were to buy two GTX 1080s and link them together in a manner for which they will both work in unison to process my gaming graphics at the same time and I were to make sure that I get a 240Hz 4K Smart TV, would I see an improvement over what I am running now?

Thanks
(There, I didn't say SLI except for in the case where I said, "I'm not going to say SLI".)

On 06.10.2016 I am going to be in possession of enough greenery to upgrade wherever I may need to so I am trying to determine what I can do based on what I currently have to even further improve the quality, speed, performance, resolution, power, etc... call it what you will. My full setup is as follows:
1 Thermaltake Core X9 computer case
1 i7-5960X
1H100i liquid cooler for CPU
1 GTX TitanX SC
32 GB of corsair Vengeance DDR4 @2137 MHz
1 Corsair AX1200i PSU
Samsung Pro 850 SSDs
1 Samsung 48" 1080p TV set at 75 Hz

That's what I'll do. I'm already going to get a single 1080 and I'll sell the Titan X for the price of the second. I just hope that I can get the lag out of my gaming for Fallout 4 play.

The only GPU you can use to increase performance is another Titan X in SLi and yes I do know what I'm talking about.

That's probably the route I will go almost to the letter with the only real difference being that I'm going to upgrade to a 120Hz 4K 48" monitor, but I will probably sell the Titan X and get 2 1080's. So I don't know that much about 4 K yet. With 1080p if you have a 120Hz screen it usually means that you can get 120 FPS too. I know that isn't the case with 4K but if I have 48" of 4K at 120Hz what kind of frame rate am I looking at being able to achieve? Thanks for the great responses guys this is really helping me to limit mistakes in upgrading! :D

Looking at that link there does seem to be a pretty big jump between the X and the 1080 though so that's exciting! Ok so based on this info, is it still better to go up to 4K or to stay at the level of 1080 with the new cards as far as clarity and performance. Actually, that makes me think of another good question:

Does a game's running performance as far as lag or how smooth the flow of the picture is concerned come from the GPU power or from the CPU? Because right now I can't think of a better GPU than the one that I currently have that's available (the i7-5960X).

a 120hz 4k tv is different than a computer monitor. I have not seen any 120hz + computer 4k monitors. The difference is the input lag mainly. Computer monitors generally have alot less input lag. If you are talking about using a 4k tv you'd probably be better off using a 28 inch 4k computer monitor like some of the ones ACER or ASUS make. 1080sli will not get you 120fps at 4k on max settings. We are not at the power yet in gpu's.

If you want to game at 4k and easily stay above 60 fps then get 2 1080's. 1440p 144hz is the sweet spot in gaming though right now. Me personally im waiting for the 1080ti to come out then im going to upgrade to that. The ti versions of every generation of gpu is usually significantly faster than its non ti counterpart.
