I live in a building that provides internet to residents. Their server room consists of a cox ISP modem connected to a series of routers and switches to supply internet via ethernet in each apartment.

My router is getting a private WAN IP 192.168.1.229 and it has a LAN IP of 192.168.21.1. I am trying to set up DDNS but having trouble because of this double NAT situation. I've read about methods using port forwarding, DMZ and bridging. I cannot access the main router and would like my router on a separate LAN network as it is now.

Is there any solution to get around this double NAT so I can set up DDNS so that I can set up FTP and access it externally?

Solution
No. If you don't have a public IP address, then you can't use DDNS. You have to have a public IP address and open ports to be able to do what you want.

Thank you. Is there any work around so that I can access my NAS server externally?

Unfortunately that is not possible in my building and I have to make use of what I have. Are there any possible workarounds? I am able to connect to my computer from an external network using teamviewer but I'd like to be able to use a device on my network as an FTP server.
