Is there something wrong with my motherboard?

Its an Asus P8Z77-V LX. Had it for a few years now, and recently I've got this issue with my GPU (I know, sounds unrelated but bear with me). You might be aware that the G1 980ti has fan disable feature under about 60 degrees celsius, and this is not working properly for me. It will rev right up to 100% for no apparent reason, and will not disable the fans even though its way under 60 degrees. I've lost count of the number of times I've DDU'd my GPU drivers. However, whenever I reseat my card, pull out the PCI-e connectors and fire it back up, the GPU starts working again like its supposed to. Does this lead to a bad motherboard?

My specs:
intel core i5-3570k
Asus P8Z77-V LX mobo
16gb RAM
G1 Gaming GTX980ti
Corsair RM650 power supply

Whoops, clicked wrong button. But yes, my mobo BIOS is up to date, how do I check GPU bios?

Edit: if a moderator could unselect that best answer for me that'd be great, thanks

Edit 2: I've found the procedure for flashing GPU bios, so I guess I will give that a go.

Go to teh manufacturer website and see under downloads.
Compare with the bios version shown by GPUZ https://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2699/techpowerup-gpu-z-v0-8-8
Or, you can donwload teh manufacturers utility for updating teh video bios and it will tell you.
If it's Gygabyte, heres teh utility(VGA Tools -- @BIOS) http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5472#utility

I've unselected the previous answer.

Thanks. So just to clarify, I should be looking at the revision number and not the bios version? Because under GPU-Z the BIOS version number is a random jumble of letters and numbers that don't correspond with anything on the gigabyte site.

Use the VGA Tools -- @BIOS instead. It'll tell you what's what.

That's telling me the BIOS version is F4, which I believe is the latest version. Should I still do it? (There's two bios files in the download folder as well)

Ah I see. So revision is not the same as version? Just a little confusing to me as GPU-Z is reporting it as A1. And also, this is a replacement GPU for a previous unrelated issue, so I hope I don't have to send it back again :/

A revision is a hardware version, so no, not the same as a bios version :)

Right, I see. Well, I guess it must be the card then if it returns to normal operation whenever I reseat it, although this is a pain to switch off my PC, remove the case panels and everything else. Thanks for your help anyway

Okay. Sorry to revive this thread, but I'm going to tentatively say I think I fixed it. I pulled the card out to inspect it, and found one of the cables was wedged very tightly between the Windforce shroud and the cooling block. Also damage to one of the protective shrouds around another cable. I was considering disassembling the entire heatsink, but I jiggled a few cables around, freed the wedged cable and checked the connections I could access. Now the fan seems to be behaving like it should be. Although I have to say, I think this will be the last Gigabyte product I buy. Back to EVGA for me. Not particularly impressed.
