I have a Dell Inspiron 640M laptop that the screen will not come on. Is there a button that I need to push to light it up or is the computer seen better days?

What exactly do you mean by 'the screen will not come on'? Does the computer power on when you press the power button? Does the backlight of the screen turn on only displaying a blank screen? Does the computer post?
