Hello everyone,

The issue: since last night, my 5 year old system keeps turning itself off AND on by itself. When it boots all the way to Windows 10, it shuts down as it should (shut down screen etc.) but by itself. When turned off, it'll randomly power up, but then it doesn't necessarily go as far as the Windows 10 start screen. It'll shut itself down again after anything from 10 seconds to a few minutes. I first noticed the shutting down, later on I also noticed the powering up issue.

P8P67 rev 3 mbx
Core i5 2400K cpu
Seasonic X560 Gold psu
Palit KalmX GTX 750ti gfx
Antec P183 case

Peripherals: screen on the gfx card, Logitech speakers on the mbx, USB: keyboard, mouse (both backside ports), wifi dongle (front usb); at the time it first happened I also a USB stick in the other front USB port.

Troubleshooting so far: very little due to lack of time, I'm afraid :) I disconnected the 2 front USB peripherals, left only the keyboard and the mouse connected but the issue persisted. My guess, up until now: a short circuit either in the power button of the P183 or on the mainboard connector, as shutdowns always happen "the way they should" (it doesn't shut down immediately, it goes through the entire process). I'm going to buy a new cr 2032 battery just in case.

All components except the graphics card (1 yr) are just over 5 years old. Additional detail: I was on holiday for 3 weeks, during which I disconnected the entire system from the power socket. It worked fine for almost 2 days before I encountered this issue.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Solution
Sounds like PSU may be going, do you have access to another or could you borrow one to test with? If it will boot up check the date and time, if correct it shouldn't be the mobo battery, if way off it might be battery.
