My computer randomly shut off for a split second, then powered back on, except the monitor and keyboard stayed off. Pretty much just the fans were spinning (except my rear case exhaust fan didn't come back on, just the CPU heatsink fan and 2 case intake fans came on). I powered it off and turned it back on, but after 5-10 mins it happened again. Problem detected!
I cleaned a buttload of dust out of the case and then it ran fine for a whole week. But it happened agian! This time I cleaned ALL the dust out, and replaced the thermal past on the CPU's heatsink. DID NOT HELP. It won't stay on more than a few seconds before shutting everything down but 3 out of 4 fans.
After the PC sat overnight, I powered it on and it stayed on a few minutes before shutting down just like before. I managed to download Core Temp and screenshot the results (http://www.imagebam.com/image/f62b61487977885). Not a heat problem I would say.
There were also flashing green specs peppered across my desktop background. I screenshotted those, but... they don't show up in the screenshot. I am using the same monitor right now, just connected to an old PC that still works, and I can't see the specs, so that has to be coming from the bad PC too, not from the monitor.
WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?
