There is max 4 users in a small business office that would be using the NAS. The main purpose is a file server for quickbooks and other applications. The quickbooks file will be hosted from the NAS. The other basic office applications would be stored on nas by individual pc's. Pc's are running windows as well. Looking for suggestions on a NAS either homebuilt or prebuilt. If prebuilt is around the same price its probably the better route.

Yes -always trade-offs to be made aka buy versus build.
But do consider any multi-bay options as well with respect to future growth.
Another NAS would require space, power, additonal connections, etc.. Maybe relocating other devices and so forth.
E.g., obtaining a 4 bay box now will minimize the need for more work/change in the future. Any problems would be, by default, pretty much narrowed down to the addition of more drivers versus bring a whole new device into your IT environment.
Plan for growth. Nice to have the ablility even if you end up not needing to use the extra bays. They could come in handy sometime.
