No Fps Change With GPU Upgrade

I recently upgraded from an AMD 270x to an Nvidia 970 le. Unfortunately there has been no increase in fps in Overwatch at all. I'm not too upset since I needed to upgrade anyways, but I was wondering if upgrading to a better cpu would increase my fps? I currently average around 130, but I have frequent drops below. I would like to maintain a constant 153+ fps (the display cap in game) on low settings with 100% render scale. I currently use an i5-4590. If upgrading will help, I would also like to know what the best possible cpu is for a z97 1150 mobo. If the cpu is not the issue, I would like to hear any possible solutions to the problem. I know 130 fps is completely playable, but there is a common issue with Overwatch that causes input lag when your pc is under load. Thanks for all replies.

Best possible would be a 1080, followed by the 1070, 980Ti, 980, etc. The 770 LE was offered as a low cost 770 rought based on the reference GPU, but should still be better than the 270X. Did you uninstall all the AMD drivers and their stuff like CCC. Do you have the latest BIOS and mobo drivers?
