Mixing DDR3L with DDR3 in a laptop

Hello there, everyone. As the title suggests, I am looking to add an additional RAM stick in my laptop which already has a stock 4GB ADATA DDR3 RAM which has a voltage rating of 1.5v. I have a spare ADATA 4GB DDR3L RAM which I wanted to install in my laptop, but I wasn't sure if it would result in a stable config alongside the other stick, which although identical in almost all aspects, differs in, obviously, the voltage rating. All I need to know is could I run both these RAM sticks together without experiencing failures of any kind?

Thank You

PS: My laptop is the HP G6 2320TX

DDR3L (1.35v low Voltage memory) will work in DDR3 (1.5v Normal Voltage memory) slot.

Okay, I went ahead and took a risk by installing the DDR3L RAM in conjunction with my DDR3 RAM. After nervously waiting, breathed a sigh of relief as the notebook started without giving me any errors. The RAM sticks are working perfectly!

I should clarify one thing, though. The DDR3L RAM stick that I bought had clearly mentioned on its cover that its working voltage ranges between 1.3V to 1.45V, so I am presuming that not all DDR3L sticks are backward compatible with DDR3 slots. However, in my notebook, the DDR3L stick works at 1.35V while the DDR3 stick works at 1.5V without any problems. Also, as was expected, I had huge performance gains thanks to the fact that my memory is now dual channel. I am posting a few screenshots comparing the single
channel and dual channel performance on my notebook.

Hopefully, this will help any other people having the same dilemma.

Cheerio!

All DDR3L sticks should work in DDR3 slots, it's just that you might end up running them at a voltage outside their recommended spec. I guess this might shorten its lifespan or something, but I don't think it's too big a deal.

I'm about 99% sure that you only have one memory voltage in a system. So either you're running both at 1.35 V, or both at 1.5 V, but not each stick at a different voltage.

Well, I am not so sure about what's happening internally but all the hardware diagnostic tools are showing me that the DDR3 stick is working at 1.5v while the DDR3L stick is working at 1.35v. Here's a screenshot from cpu-z confirming the same.
