A couple of questions regarding Noctua NH-D15S

Just got it, it's SO darn sweet. But I am curious:

Idle is around 37-40c, while stress temps are 65-75c while being in "silent" mode and with low noise adapters.

How does this sound to you guys?

Even though the cooler is an improvement over my DH14, I'm hungry for more silence and noticed that it was significantly more silent when the side of the cabinet was off - could this be true?

Solution
When the side of the cabinet is off, much off the heat is exiting out the side (along with cool air coming in.) The cooler temps are sensed by the MB and the CPU fans are likely slowed down. I think the temps look fine for silent mode.

The temps are good. I would think taking the side panel off would add more noise, you have nothing containing the noise inside the case. If it does indeed get quieter it has to be because the inside of your case is quite hot. What do you have for case airflow?
