Bought a new Dell 7559 laptop. Came with no m.2 memory installed and a one TB hybrid hdd. I am going to add a Samsung 850evo m.2 250gb memory card as well as exchanging the hdd for a samsung 850evo 500gb 2.5inch drive. I'll be loading windows 7pro on it. Question: can I designate which drive to do the install to? I'd like it on the m.2 if possible. Anyone done this already?

Thanks

Hey there, Dunkinidaho.

You should be able to do that, although it would be better if you get in touch with the laptop manufacturer's customer support and ask if you'll be able to boot by using an M.2 drive. Anyway you could always give it a try and if it doesn't work, you can go with the 2.5" SSD. I have just one advice, plese make sure that you have only the drive you are going to install Windows to, connected during the installation process. Oh, and set the SATA mode to AHCI (in case it's not AHCI now) before you install Windows. This is done via your BIOS/UEFI.

Hope that helps.
