Hello all,

I have been looking for a new graphics card for my system, my current specs are below:

-CTX 600w power supply. (This might need upgrading?)
-Kingston savage 16gb of ddr3-2400 RAM
-Intel core i7-4970k quad core
-Asus GTX 750 TI (This card struggles to keep up with anything)
-MSI Z97S krait edition (upgraded from a very old gigabyte)
-2TB hard drive space + 250gb SSD
-3 x Asus monitors that are 1920x1080 (Would like to future proof for upgrading these to 4k or something, but at the minute these will be what I am using)

I have been looking at a GTX 970 but and 1070. Although ideally I want to spend around £275 will this be enough or will it be worth investing a little more to be more future proof?

I have previously been exclusively using nvidia, but I am open to any suggestions.

Another issue I can think of is my power supply might not be sufficient. It wasnt expensive and isnt the newest but I dont want to over spend on this.

At the minute I dont overclock but this is something I also want to look into, will I need specific cards for this/is this worth doing?

Many thanks
-M

Solution
You might also want to take a look at AMDs soon to be release RX 480. It's power is in between the 970 and a bit under the 1070 and it will sell for $200 US.

To start, a 600w power supply is well for lots of cards so unless you want to go really big, then you don't have to worry about it.

Your specs are good but it is the GTX 750ti that is slowing down your system.

I would recommend a GTX 970 because it is powerful, right in your price range and it says it recommends a 500w power supply so a 600w power supply should work just fine.
