Hello all,

I'm building my first and I've selected all the parts, but I'm struggling on the choice of power supply I've used multiple calculators and I've got a range from 450 to 750. I would greatly appreciate input from an experienced builder.

I found this one to get but I want to make sure I'm not over doing it or not giving enough.

EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G1 80+ GOLD, 750W Fully Modular 10 Year Warranty Power Supply 120-G1-0750-XR

Along with this their were type G1 G2 and GQ from what I've read I want the G2?

I will be using...

case: antec 1200 v3
MB: Asus x99 A/usb 3.1 full atx ddr4 3300
GPU: Evga geforce gtx 970 FTW+
a noctua cpu cooler
CPU: intel i7 5820 K LGA 2011-3 140 W Desktop
asus dvd rw drive
WD 1TB 7200

I believe it will have a total of about 7 120 mm fans and 2 200 mm fans with led lights on the fans 3 or 4 of them

Yes you want the G2 made by Super Flower and or a Corsair RMX , both very high quality.

Get a RMX 650W OR 650W G2 , P2 or GS

Here's 3 to choose from all AMAZING.

Thanks for your honesty. Still my computer hasn't had any crashes or issues. That is a 3 year old issue and problems like that may have been addressed. This is an entry level PSU. This is not a 80+ Gold Fully modular PSU. If you want the cleanest electricity and highest quality available you don't invest only $40. However I am aware of its place on the market and wouldn't offer something I didn't believe in nor would I expect high end results for an entry level price. I use and game with it daily.

Minimum PSU requirement for that video card is 500watt.
Think about if you will ever add another card for SLI.
If you do, then go with a 750w PSU.

Also, is your case small? Is cable management important to you?
If so, I would go with a modular PSU.

My recommendation would be a HX750i to cover all fronts.
If you're trying to save a couple bucks you can go down to the CX series.

As far as cable management is concerned I purchased a case where all of my cables go behind the motherboard and the "side" http://d3d71ba2asa5oz.cloudfront.net/13000207/images/case-v05_4.jpg of the case.

DO NOT purchase a CX or an HX series unit from Corsair. The CX model features cheap components, and has been known to fail regularly without even reaching its expected power draw. The HX series is overpriced, and there are better alternatives on the market.

I would disagree on telling him/her "DO NOT" purchase the Corsair PSU's.

CX is the cheap model, but they have still worked well in lower end systems in my experience.

The HX models are great and have worked flawlessly in all the high end systems I have built.
I don't believe they are super over priced. ($150)
You may be thinking about the AX series, which is the top of the line super high end Corsair PSU for large wattage needs.

**Personally i wouldn't ever purchase an EVGA PSU, but I don't go around telling people "DO NOT" purchase them because of personal preference.

The EVGA P2 series is far superior than the HX series, and as of now for nearly half the price. At $150, the HX series is also beat out by several SeaSonic, EVGA, Silverstone, and Super Flower units.

Recommending any CX or HX products at this moment is foolish because the CX series uses cheap components, while the HX series uses similar components at a ridiculous cost, compared to the other models on the market.

EDIT:
In my post, I stated do not purchase the CX or HX series power supplies. There are definitely good Corsair PSU models, but the ones which I mentioned, do not rank above others that are competitively priced and offer high quality components.

OP: I stand by my original recommendation: Corsair HX750i.

I base my recommendations on real world experience.
They are reliable, built with quality materials, and have never failed on me, even when I push them to the max.

You can listen to this other guy trying to argue with me, but I'm not sure he is trying to answer your original question.
I'm just trying to help out and share my professional IT experience.
