Hello All :)

My current Gaming RIG

Intel i5 4460 3.2GHZ
8GB DDR3 RAM
GTX 960 2GB
1TB HDD
600 WATT PSU

Basically I'm looking to upgrade my PC's GPU to a GTX 970. I find the 2GB of VRAM on the GTX 960 to be stingy and a bit of a bottleneck in modern games.

I am fully aware that the GTX 1080 has just been released and the release of the GTX 1070 is imminent..

My gaming habits: I'm perfectly satisfied with playing games maxed out at 1080P at 60FPS plus.

But yeah should I get this card (GTX 970) or wait for the GTX 1070/1060? I don't want to hameorrage money on a new card only to realise there's a cheaper viable alternative available!

And lastly how long will the GTX 970 be able to handle games at max/high settngs at 1080P with 60FPS?

Cheers

Hark

PS- WHat variant of the GTX 970 would you recommend? I'm quite drawn towards the MSI twin frozer variant as it looks good, and appears to cool the card well.

I've heard a lot of good about the http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Gaming-GDDR5-Graphics/dp/B00NH5T1MS G1. I chose the EVGA 970 FTW. To make a loooooong story short I had to buy a computer including the card because my laptop died and I couldn't wait for the 1070. I will however be using EVGA's Step-up Program to buy the 1070. If you can wait I would wait for the 1070. The value of the 970 pales in comparison to the 1070. Right now I have the 970. The 980 and its variants are better. The Titan is better than the 980. The 1070 will be better than the Titan(in some respects). It would be a waste of money to invest in the 970 with less than a week until its release. Then you have to wait for the aftermarket cards. Don't buy a founders edition. A $70 mark-up just to be one of the first to buy a 1070? No thanks.
