Display works when connected to video card, but doesn't when connected to add-in video card

Hi guys,

My PC's display has started playing up recently. Originally, I always had my HMDI connected to the add-in video card (because I was told to do it this way). However, it stopped working a couple of days ago. My PC boots up, but nothing is displayed when I'm connected by HMDI to my add-in. My monitor and cords are all fine, but I don't know what the problem with the card is. However, whenever I connect to the normal video card, it shows a display (but obviously not optimal resolution). Thought this was odd. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

That would be my assessment. If the VGA port works and the HDMI port does not, I'd say the HDMI port has failed. If the VGA port does not work, then I would think the entire card has failed and if still under warranty, start the RMA process.

Thanks for your reply. I don't have a VGA cord on me but I'll grab one from a shop to test it tomorrow. I take it that if a VGA works, the HDMI port on the card has failed; but if the VGA cord doesn't work, the whole card has failed?
