Hi,
I just got gigabyte 980 ti extreme today.
The prob is, my psu only able to connect 1x 8 pin connector and 1x 6 pin connector to this GPU.
The other 8 pin connector design doesnt compatible to fit into the GPU connector.

The question is, can i just power up this 2x 8 pin GPU with 1x 8 pin and 1x 6 pin connector? Or do it gonna blow up my GPU?

And if cant, should i use converter? I got 1 converter inside the box (1x 8 pin) but i need to connect it with 2x 6 pin which my psu didnt have.

Im using seasonic s12 620w anyway. Thanks for help.

Based upon measurements with a power meter at the wall, the card pulls 258 watts, and the testers, like nVidia, recommend a 600 watt model PSU.

Your best bet would be to upgrade your PSU to something with more power and with the correct connections. According to Gigabytes own web site they recommend a 600w PSU so your 620w isn't going to cut it anyway. As for which one to get? I'll let someone that knows more about PSU's recommend something.

Gigabyte GTX 980 Ti Gaming G1 SOC SLI - On your average system the cards require you to have a 900 Watts power supply unit as minimum.

If you are going to overclock your GPU or processor, then we do recommend you purchase something with some more stamina

So if not overclocking your S12, being a superb PSU, will be just fine from a wattage standpoint.

The S12, according to Seasonic's web site, comes with two 6+2 connectors. The cable is designed to work with either 6 or 8 pin connectors on the GFX card. You need to plug in both the 6 pin and the 2 pin parts into both sockets

There is however another version of the 620 that only has a 6 pin and 8 pin connector

If you have one of these older ones, I would suggest one of the following:

1. Replace the PSU
2. Try and find a card model with 8 + 6 pin connectors

I think i got the older one. I just got 1x 6+2 connector which is the only one that fit into my GPU. Do you recommend if i use 4 pin molex to 8 pin pcie connector to put into GPU?
