I have removed my USB key without going through the "Safely Remove hardware option" and since then, when I plug-in the device, I'm getting the following error message:
_____________________________________________________________________________
G:\ cannot be accessed.
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.
_____________________________________________________________________________

How can I recover the data from the device?

Hey there, nightsfearx00.

What's your OS? You could try taking ownership of the drive: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753659%28v=ws.11%29.aspx. However the I/O (input output error is never a good sign). You could also try the flash drive with a different computer/device, to see if the same thing happens. You could also try accessing the USB flash drive via a data recovery program, to see if you have any luck with that: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-1644496/lost-data-recovery.html & http://pcsupport.about.com/od/filerecovery/tp/free-file-recovery-programs.htm.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how everything goes.
