Hey guys, i can't decide which to get....i5 6600k or i7 6700k. In my country the i5 is 110$ cheaper than the i7. I know that the i7s HyperThreading benefits from video/photo editing and things like that. I will use my PC to play heavy games (Witcher 3, Battlefield 4, Overwatch etc) and use GIMP (https://www.gimp.org) but i won't be doing professional work, just for fun.
Here's my PC part im saving money for:

CPU: i7 or i5?
CPU Cooler: Be queit! Pure Rock
PSU: EVGA SuperNova G2 650W
Case: Fractal Design Define R5
HDD: WD Blue 1TB+SanDisk SSD 120GB
RAM: Corsair VENGEANCE LPX 8GB
GPU: Waiting for the GTX 1070

Any suggestions on my part list? Is it good?

Whilst there are games that can utilise more than four threads, don't expect much of a performance boost. Multi-threaded games simply distribute less of a load across the CPU threads, rather than a higher load across fewer threads. In either case, you aren't compromising on performance.

Also don't expect much of a performance boost from an overclocked CPU. From a gaming perspective, overclocking is only worthwhile if the CPU is bottlenecking the GPU.

An i5 and i7 offer much the same performance when using GIMP; http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2013/06/12/intel-core-i5-4670k-haswell-cpu-review/3. Overclocking can be beneficial here, but all it does is process tasks faster. Ask yourself if that's worth the additional cost of an unlocked...

I'm maxing out most games with 90~130 fps with my gtx ssc970 and 4.7ghz o.c. i5-6600k. My ram is 3400mhz 16gb as well. Some times I wish I got the I7-6700k for faster video re-encodes. If you can afford it get the I7. Otherwise the I5-6600k is still beast on a 4.5ghz oc and above. I think in over watch I have around 130 fps @1080p on epic quality. Don't play the witcher. As for doom its about the same fps.

If you can afford it get a liquid cooler you won't regret it. Get a corsair h80i if your case dont support h115i. I got the evo 212 and corsair spec 02 case at first. I regret it. They both are collecting dust now. Also if you can afford it get a super nova 750 g2. Its always better to have more watts on the PSU than you think you need.

Ask yourself if that's worth the additional cost of an unlocked CPU, Z170 motherboard and CPU cooler, as well as the time and effort required to learn how to overclock.
