Hi, I recently bought a Sennheiser PC 350 SE headset, and when compared to my Corsair 1500s, it actually sounds worse in everything but bass. It sounds like the audio is being played through a thin wall or something. I've read other posts that say I might need an amp but they didn't give a lot of info. Could that be the issue? I don't know what my sound card is/if I even have one. Thanks.

The blue USB ports are USB 3.0 its a higher speed USB port with more bandwidth for devices like USB 3.0 flash drives or external hard drives. If you dont use them I would just remove that USB card and put the sound card there.

Well I bought a prebuilt PC years ago, so the motherboard is actually one of a kind and made just for this PC. It's a gateway FX6860 which is incidentally the same name as the PC.

I would probably be willing to spend up to $50 on an amp if that would make my sound a lot better. I'm unfamiliar with audio cables and whatnot, but this headset has a pink plug and green plug instead of a USB, and looking at sound cards, those appear to be what this would plug into. I believe I do have a sound card, it's just a generic prebuilt PC part, and probably not great.

Yeah you have a sound card its built into the motherboard, sound cards on motherboards can be hit or miss and considering yours is just a generic motherboard that came with a pre built im guessing the built in sound card is not the greatest. Yes your headphones should work with any sound card, but I need to know if there is an open expansion slot on your motherboard so you can add a sound card. If your not sure just take a picture of the motherboard and post it. Something like these below would work but again I need to know if your motherboard has an open slot to put it in. I cannot guarantee this will solve your issue, I think its your best shot but without being in front of your computer and hearing the headphones for myself I cant say for sure.

]The current thing I'm plugging my headset into appears to be a very small cube attached to my motherboard, (motherboard says "audio" where it is connected) and it's under my giant case fan so its pretty inaccessable. There are 2 PCI slots which those sound cards would work in, but one is my wireless adapter and the other appears to be for more USB slots, but then they are colored blue. I don't really know what they are honestly.
