What is the best 7.1 Gaming Headset?
- For Gaming and Mainly FPS
- Price Doesn't matter
- No wireless
- Mic isn't needed but can be included.

The best 7.1 gaming headset is actually going to be a high quality set of stereo headphones.

You only have two ears, putting a lot of small drivers into an earcup doesn't make it sound any more "surround".

Surround sound only applies to open spaces, rooms, where sound waves must fill a volume.
This effect doesn't apply to headphones and is marketing fluff.

Just get a good set of Audiotechnica

+1 to this. i was typing basically this same thing before greens beat me to it. the best pair of stereo headphones will give you the best experience for listening. if you dont want a mic which you stated was optional, you'd be looking for headphones, not a headset. in this case buy a cheap clip on mic and it'll probably sound as good or better than most mics included in a headset.

7.1 is hit or miss and not supported altogether in a lot of games.

Okay, so which stereo headphones would you recommend?

Okay, which one? The ATH-M50x or ATH-M50XMG, plus how about the new ATH-M70X or ATH-R70X? Are they any good?

Even thou this is answered I will drop in my 2 cents:
There are "tiers" if you like for headphones.

Your starting place is anything at 100 dollars or less. You get very decent milage for it and sometimes strong base. v-moda crossfade m-100 is nice at this price point. Sennheiser HD 380 Pro as well.

Then we get a next jump to somewhere along the lines of 300 max dollars. Here options are quite wide including some very interesting options like the Hifiman HE-400 (great if you can deal with the extra weight) or the sennheiser HD600. Both great HPs, and both will also scale with a good audio chain (a good soundcard should be used, but you will get even better sound from a dedicated DAC and AMP for a headphone).

Then we get the next jump everything under 1000 dollars where the options start to go crazy. Audeze LCD-2, Stax 3100, Hifiman HE-560, the list is very long.

Over 1000... well i would not even consider it (I tested many HPs over that price and never thought they sounded better than sub 1000. Different yes, never better).

you're gonna love any of those. total different level of sound quality vs. most low-mid range headsets. sennheiser is a solid brand and the ATH-M50s are the go-to for less than $200 for a lot of people
