Even thou this is answered I will drop in my 2 cents:
There are "tiers" if you like for headphones.
Your starting place is anything at 100 dollars or less. You get very decent milage for it and sometimes strong base. v-moda crossfade m-100 is nice at this price point. Sennheiser HD 380 Pro as well.
Then we get a next jump to somewhere along the lines of 300 max dollars. Here options are quite wide including some very interesting options like the Hifiman HE-400 (great if you can deal with the extra weight) or the sennheiser HD600. Both great HPs, and both will also scale with a good audio chain (a good soundcard should be used, but you will get even better sound from a dedicated DAC and AMP for a headphone).
Then we get the next jump everything under 1000 dollars where the options start to go crazy. Audeze LCD-2, Stax 3100, Hifiman HE-560, the list is very long.
Over 1000... well i would not even consider it (I tested many HPs over that price and never thought they sounded better than sub 1000. Different yes, never better).
