I recently got a new CPU, MOBO, RAM, and CPU cooler, and everything will run with everything but the PSU fan plugged in. Everything runs fine, but as soon as I plug that PSU fan in, the case and motherboard lights flicker on and then stay off.l and the computer wont run. I think it might be that the PSU fan might be shorted. What do you guys think?

CPU: I5 6500
GPU: EVGA GTX 960 SSC 2GB
MOBO: MSI B150 Gaming M3
RAM: G.Skill DDR4 2400
PSU: EVGA 500B PSU

I have a suspicion, OP. Among the various cables that connect it to your mobo, there is one with three female 4-pin Molex connectors, plus a smaller one on the end. A "female 4-pin Molex" is about ¾" wide with four round holes in a straight line, and two of its corners are rounded off. The smaller connector on the end also has 4 holes in a line for small pins and is only ½" wide. Is that smaller connector the one you called the PSU fan connector? If it is, then DISCONNECT IT IMMEDIATELY!!

That connector on the end is another power output from the PSU, intended for a 3½" floppy drive. It is NOT supposed to be plugged into any mobo header! If you have no floppy dive, just don't plug it into anything.
