Hello, I need some help from the PC players of GTA 5. I formatted my pc and I haven't got GTA installed on my pc right now.

GTA 5 vsync had a issue which would randomly limit the fps to 30 when the fps goes down below 60fps. But if I re enable vsync everything's fine...

On a forum I just read that it has been fixed after the finance and felony update(1.34). Could you please check that for me?

Thanks in advance.

Ok so I played for about an hour in different scenarios: walking, running, driving, flying, etc. I had the game set @1080P/60hz with V-sync on in full screen. In the time I played I experienced a few FPS drops down to 46 but never did my FPS default to 30, even during heavy action. There was a bit of stuttering when it did but for the most part 90% of the time it was smooth gameplay. I used NZXT CAM Software to monitor FPS on the screen. I could see if the game had some sort of adaptive v-sync that it would go down to 30 FPS during heavy action but then essentially should go back up to 60 FPS by itself without having to turn v-sync on and off. Just for the heck of it have you tried playing it in Windowed Mode? (1080P/60hz V-Sync On)

I have this bug everytime I launch the game, turning vsync off and back on has always worked for me. How often does it lock to 30? mine only does this when I initially start playing after turning vsync off and on its usually fine for the rest of the time I play. I played it last week and it was still happening.

Here's the official patch release notes, no fix listed for V-Sync frames dropping to 30 FPS.

Would turning off adaptive V-sync in Nvidia Control Panel fix that so that the game would be forced to use 60 FPS Vysnc (w/o dropping down to 30)? Although by doing so I would think the game would stutter at FPS drops.

I won't be able to test this out until I get out of work, another 4 hours :( . This may be different for me since I use a 144hz monitor and FPS runs between 80-120. I will set my monitor for 60 fps, set the game for 60 fps and see if it drops down to 30 fps.

Thanks both of you and I look forward to see the results. Plus I used radeonpro to force vsync. I set the programme to start minimized with windows. And gives an error message at every single startup.

Again thanks

Hi. So as I mentioned before, after re enabling vsync I got the same results (about 45 fps during explosions otherwise solid 60 fps). Btw you got the update right (finance and felony)?

And please try the following, close the game with vsync on and reopen it, straightly go into the story mode and check what happens...

Thank you for the help so far

Disabling V-Sync in the menu actually makes my game crash so I wasn't able to test it much further when I went back into the game. The only way I was able to get the game to run semi-smoothly was to go into both graphic settings and to reset everything to default. I'm currently trying to go back into game and its crashing before the menu :( . Starting to remember why I stopped playing this game after I beat it awhile ago lol. And yes, I did get this game through Steam so its the newest version. I'm going to run Verify Integrity of Game Cache through the Steam menu and see it that fixes anything.

When I was in the game, changing the V-sync setting caused my game to crash.

So it turned out NZXT CAM Software was causing GTA V to crash, so I tried setting the FPS @60 (made the monitor match @60FPS) and went into the game. Enabling & disabling v-sync didn't affect gameplay and the FPS stayed around 60 FPS, dipping down to 50 and back to 60. At no point did the game go to 30 FPS so I'm not sure whats going on.

So what happened to me was, I go into the game's story mode and then I turn on vsync. Then everything's fine. When I reopen the game the issues I mentioned before happens. Btw do you think it's fixed now?

Let's see what Dunlop has to say

Hi Thanks for the updated.. downloaded gta 5 and it crashes during the intro. I'll try a redownload later. Is Vsync fixed after that? I got to know that the last patch didn't fix it.

Btw I heard that borderless window eliminates tearing... Any idea about that?
