I am trying to setup my Spondoolies SP20 bitcoin miner (it requires atleast 1200watts with a 1400watt allowance for surges) and I'm using two 650watt power supplies to power it. Both of them are the same model from the same company (Apevia Java http://www.amazon.com/Apevia-Java-ATX-Power-Supply/dp/B004J0WQ2M?ie=UTF8) and I got them both to turn on but shortly after one of them stopped working and it wouldn't turn back on. Lazy to check if something was wrong, I got it exchanged for a new one and set everything up once more. Again they both turned on and shortly after one of them stopped working. Not being able to get another exchange I decided it wouldn't hurt to open it up and see if it burnt up or if the capacitors were bloated or maybe even the fuse was blown. Being a small cramped case I couldn't get the circuit board out so while trying to see if the fuse was blown I forgot to unplug the psu completely and I got a nice little shock telling me the wire was still intact. Carefully looking around, I didn't see any bloated capacitors, there were no signs of it having burnt up, and all the wires were securely attached still. The only thing I notice is when I turn it on and wait a few seconds, there's this high pitch screech for about a second and nothing else happens. It's the same when I turn it off and unplug it, after a few seconds there's the screech again (I assume it's just the electricity flowing into the circuit and when it has left?). Does anyone have an idea what might be the problem? (The other one works just fine and even runs the miner by itself surprisingly enough, although it can only do it for about 6-8 minutes before turning itself off due to the load).
