Hey guys, so I've been...er..."experimenting" in the overclocking side of things a while back, (say maybe a couple months) and I OC'd the CPU, and the RAM. The CPU, if wasn't balanced properly would KABLAM! Bluescreen immediately and I'd have to go back and change some settings in order for it to not puke that terrible bluescreen. Later on, I just decided to change everything back and only OC the RAM. I will list the specs, and what I overclocked and then reverted. I sometimes use the AMD "Turbo Core" Technology, but I turned that one off. I want to be able to overclock, but am (Bluscreening is so random, It bluescreened right here while typing, no joke) afraid to permanently wear something out. Are there any tips/instructions you guys could give me?

Thank you all so much for the help.
God Bless,
~Term

PC Specs:
Motherboard: ASUS 970 PRO GAMING/AURA AM3+
CPU: AMD FX-8350 (OC'd it manually to about 4.5-4.6 GHz, then reverted it to normal)
RAM: G.Skill 1866 MHz 8GB (2x4) (I now have that at around 2133 MHz, 2400 wouldn't let me boot into windows....)
GPU: MSI GTX 960 GAMING 4G Twin Frozr V
PSU: Corsair RM750x
SSD: Crucial BX100 128GB
HDD's: 1TB WD Black; 300GB Random Japanese drive. Works great though.....

That's about it, thanks again.

Solution
Oc it to 4.3ghz with stock voltages, turn amd turbo core technology off, maybe try 4.4ghz, check to see if its stable at 4.2, run stress tests, reboot, overclock it to 4.3 ghz stress test etc, by raising the multiplier to 18 18.5 19 19.5 20 20.5 etc, dont change the FSB at all unless u have a 990 motherboard, unless the ram is rated at 2133 , you need to leave it at 1866 or you will encounter problems, just because you can boot into windows does Not mean its stable, download a program called Prime 95 and do the free "Blend Test" and check for errors, while keeping an eye on the Northbridge temp, temp 0 temp 1 temp 2 using a program called HW Monitor, you can pair that with core temp, which is another beneficial program, hope this helps
How stable is it at everything at default ? Only it it's 100% stable at default you can think of overclocking. OCing RAM is not going to bring you any noticeable improvement without OCing whole kitten caboodle including processor and NB. Also make sure that OS is not the one causing BSODs.

Everything seems fine stable, I can revert the RAM back to normal. I do not think the OS is causing any problems, because it never had these BCOD's before I tried overclocking.

I'll revert the RAM back, and would you mind helping me overclock the FX-8350?

Thanks.

I tried upping the multiplier and it didn't work, even at 4.1 GHz. I didn't mess with anything else. There were 2 options: Multiplier and Bus speed. I only changed the Multiplier and not the bus speed. What now?
