Solution
The board's manual isn't 100% clear on this, but I believe you have to go into your BIOS, go under Advanced>CPU Configuration and check the Advanced Clock Calibration option, by default it is disabled. I think you might have to change that setting to 'All Cores' or there may be some other options under the 'Per Core' option you might want to check.

yes i am running the latest bios my motherboard is a ASUS m4a78lt-m the most up to date bios is version 0802 as you can see here https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M4A78LTM/HelpDesk_Download/ i tried to reinstall the same bios anyways just to make sure i am using cpu-z to check it says the same thing as in my device manager i have contacted amd directly and there a bit confused why it wont work of course i have tried safe mode etc getting rid of the registry nothing works its just annoying that i know two cores are not being used it cant be the motherboard as all of the other bits hard drive etc are working fine it cant be my processor if it was i would know about it in what ever situation they said they will get back to me in a few days hopefully they can give me a answer cant be a virus i wiped my computer several times now any other suggestions would be great

Your CPU actually is a Phenom II X2 560, the X4 B60 designation indicates that cores were unlocked from a dual or triple core CPU. Check your BIOS to make sure core unlocking is still enabled, if you reset your BIOS settings to default, or your CMOS battery died and your computer lost power, then that might be why you're back down to a dual core.

i was thinking about if it had something to do with unlocking from a dual to a triple core i want x4 b60 designation back as i need it for software that uses multi threading more then one core etc at the moment only two cores can be used so i need to go on to the bios options and make sure my BIOS is core unlocked enabled do you know where i go in to the bios to check please? what does the bios option say for core unlocking? hold on when i wiped the bios then put the exact same bios back on again would that of solved the problem if that was the issue that you have suggested many thanks btw i am not getting anything to suggest my cmos battery is bad
