Hi everyone. First my config :
- mobo gigabyte ga-z77-d3h
- i7 3470
- nvidia gtx 960
- psu antec 400w (my main suspect in this case)
- hhd 1to dont know which brand (2nd suspect)

Here is the story :
- Got a few freezes after a few hours using the computer (like the computer froze, only mouse could move but couldnt do anything.
- had to reboot with the button, reboot was quite slow (like laggy in the login screen already) ... then fine again for a few hours.

- Same thing again, except when i rebooted got an error unmountable boot device, so the thing reboot, and got stuck in a reboot loop, not even the bios showing up.
It would start for 3/4 sec, then restart. Sometime got a screen turning on showing "uefi dual boot" then turning off again and going back to the loop.

- One thing before i forget (might be a clue) one time when i got the freeze and rebooted, my mouse wouldnt turn on, like the usb was not working, had to reboot.

- unplugged everything except mobo psu cpu and ram, managed with the reset cmos thing to get the bios back, was so happy thought it was working again. asked me to put a boot device and press enter (hard drive wasnt connected) so i replugged everything then turned on computer and .... boot loop again without bios.

when it goes back to the loop even unplugging everything and resetting cmos sometimes doesnt work ...

i dont have a spare of anything so hard to try, any ideas ?

Forgot to say i tried different ram combos etc ... and also, my mobo never beeped since i have the computer

its been 4 days, and i'm a gamer, i need it to work... i need it ...

Hi there Clement_5,

To me, it sounds like there's something wrong with the HDD.
Do you have spare cables? Just try to attach it to another SATA port with different cables.

In case the issue persists, you should take the HDD out and attach it to another system as a secondary drive. You can attach it either internally or externally.
After that you can try to retrieve the data, if you have any, and test it with a tool that can provide a SMART report afterwards: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility

What happens when you take the HDD out. Could you access BIOS. If the HDD turns out to be OK, then you need to troubleshoot your PSU. Unfortunately, the easiest way to do so is to just borrow one from somebody and try it on your system.

Cheers,

Hi thanks for your help. I tried with another sata cable on another port, same issue. The thing is, when i go manage to reset bios etc and avoid the boot loop, it goes in windows 10 repair thing, fail, then back to boot loop. But the thing i read online is if its the hdd, why doesnt it goest POST bios ? the screen doesnt even turn on.

Also even when i remove hdd, the loop stays.

I think the PSU is dying/dead. The symptoms gradually get worse and worse it seems.

I had a Hardrive that caused a freeze on POST, but never prevented the computer for starting to POST.

You could test the PSU with a multi meter to be sure. There a lot of instructions on the internet on how to do this.

I would recommend you upgrade that PSU either way though, 400 watts just seems a little too low for an i7 setup with a GPU.

Hi thanks for your answer. It's an i5 actually, made a typo sorry. But isnt it weird that i sometimes can get back to the windows repair launching then lopp again ? wouldnt it just loop non stop until the psu is dead? i unfortunately have nothing to test the psu :/

But i think i'll change it anyway, and hope its the problem. It is indeed an old one and if i want to upgrade later i will not be able to keep that one i think. Also could a dead psu have killed my hard drive ? Cause when i was able to boot i tried to go on a windows 7 install disc, and wanted to try to fresh install , but the hard drive was not in the list.

Also i forgot to say something, the repair thing of windows 10 never work, and when my problems started, the first blue screen i had before the boot loop was "A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed" and unmountable-boot-device or something
