I'm looking at this RAM for my new build coming up in a few days and I was hoping I could get some expert opinions on this DDR4. Anyone used this before and how did it work for you?

If I can find TridentZ in 2x16 I will definitely go that route, and as far as extra cash, I don't mind. I'm looking for what looks and performs the best hands down. Thanks for the response!
I've been trying to find a single 16GB channel for this RAM set but I haven't been able to find one. It seems the biggest single channel is 8 GB unfortunately
So is it more efficient to use two x16 channels as apposed to 4 x8 channels? I noticed those are slightly more expensive than the 4 x8 channels for the Trident Z. Thanks for the response to this it definitely helps

the normal platforms are just dual channel, so going with two sticks is preferable. The x99 enthusiast platform is quad channel, so getting a 4 stick kit is preferable.
What are you building on?
That's a great set, grabbed it when it was released for my Hero, they've since released some newer sets, i.e. 2x16 with 3200/14 which I picked up am running it with a pair of the 8GB sticks from the package you are looking at. They also have some even higher performance sets due out in 3200:
The 4266 I'd lay off on with the high CL, I was talking the new 3200 sets with the 13 CL,which are the fastest 3200 sticks I've seen and guessing should OC to 3666 or better. Am thinking about one of those in 64GB

What do you do that actually can benefit from such RAM?
My biggest aim is to be able to play something like Fallout 4 with every single setting set to the !!!Ultra Crazy Awesome Stupid!!! Setting and have the game still run smoothe as silk while running over 100 mods for the game. That kind of rendering. Does that count as 3D rendering?
Variety of different things, I have a systems consultancy, so at various times I may have other OSs running in VMs, might be doing video/imaging work, simulation evals, it varies. Have some clients that load up on DRAM also, create a large RAM disk and run games from the RAM disk. There's all kinds of things you do

Yeah, good to see that you're actually getting your money's worth. I'm a web developer, so 2400 DDR4 for the foreseeable future
Is M.2 faster than RAMDisk now or is M.2 the faster now?
M.2 is for SSDs. A ramdisk is a virtul disk you create in your ram. Obviously, it's an order of magnitude faster but it's also volatile and you have to load it after you boot.
You should look into it if you get 64+ gigs of RAM, as F4 is a game that would actually benefit from being loaded off of a ramdisk.
No, a RAM disk is still the fastest, everything on it is right there as long as the rig is on - there no hardware calls to the SSD, M.2, HD and then responses from it (them)
Hmm, well, the board I'm building on can go up to 128 GB of DDR4 I think although I know Windows 8.1 Pro x64 doesn't support that much but I can RAMDisk the rest. I've never used that before. How do you set up RAMDisk, or is it board specific in the BIOS? I'd love to use that for F4 if it's a viable option. Off of RAMDisk would this affect only performance/loading times of the games or the graphics rendering of the game too?
Believe Win8 Pro supports 512GB, would have to look (I don't build on MSI) but it may come with a RAMDisk package, some mobos do. There are also various versions of RAM Disk software you can buy, this has a free trial version:
Sweet! I totally did not know Windows 8 could carry that much memory. I am gonna look into trying out RAMDisk. ANd how about performance/graphics rendering, how is that affected in RD versus running a game off of an M.2 drive?
