Looking to make a new build to replace my dated AMD build with the upcoming RX 480.

Been out of the loop for a while now and I'm looking for someone to piece together a nice MOBO/CPU combo to go along with a dual 480 set up. Nothing unneeded or over the top expensive, just looking for a quality MOBO/CPU to compliment two 480s. Thanks. :)

A better choice, much better in fact would be a mid range Intel i5 like last gen's i5 4690k which is just over $200 (Micro Center had a $189 deal on this CPU for a walk in store special recently). You can easily find a decent Z97 board for ~$100. If you want to go even cheaper on the proc, you could find a used 4690k for around $150. Heck, even a brand new i5 6500 is only $199 and a Z170 board is ~$100. Any of these would destroy a FX 8300 and especially a FX 6300 for a nice gaming rig- and would work great with dual 480's. Not sure why anyone would buy an AMD proc right now. AMD has new procs just around the corner and everything they have out now is just meh.... The "cheaper" factor really doesn't apply that much because if you...

Sounds pretty smart, budget gaming AMD PC, those 480 looks promising.
Go with FX 6300 and for the motherboards, either Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 or if you want something less expensive ASRock 990FX Extreme6. Both good.

I'm thinking maybe a FX-8300? I kind want this build to be able to run anything (on pretty great settings) for atleast 2-3 years and since the price point of the FX series of CPUs is so low, i don't mind spending that extra 40$.

Just MHO.
