I have the Nzxt Kraken x31 Liquid Cooler for my 4790k, i know not the most impressive LQ but i am most likely going to upgrade in the future. Whilst playing games such as Witcher 3, Fallout 4, even Overwatch etc.. I understand these are very intense games for a CPU, just out of simple curiosity. Temps are getting up to about 83-85C, during idle it sometimes sits at 50-56C, is this normal? Should I be concerned.

If you have the pump plugged into the CPU fan header (like most coolers I've seen) then try setting your CPU fan setting in the BIOS to a higher speed. Sometimes you have to set it to 100% all of the time. This will put more power through the pump, and move the water faster to cool the CPU. The radiator fan(s) are less important, but if you still have heat issues try setting those higher as well.

The overclock is set to 4.4MHz

To answer yes, im pretty sure i just did it through the Bios, pretty sure one of the settings was that ECO normal or high, and i've had it on the higher setting cause didnt know shit about OC so i thought i'd let the bios do it.

Sorry for my complete ignorance to the situation.

I went into the Bios set the CPU Fan to 100% and it sounded like a loud constant whine, would this have an long term effect if set to 100% at all times?

For now just test your temperatures, see if they've improved. You can always set the pump lower later.
Power save settings often make the CPU fan run slower/quieter, but the system doesn't know it's a pump and needs to run higher.

This seems to have worked like a charm, Witcher 3 Max Settings pulling about 50C. Thank you seriously, you saved me from the pain of buying a new cooler!

Honestly pump noise isn't even a bothersome, i was just worried about prolonging the fan at 100% all the time would have some repercussions. Thanks again!
