Hello all,

I built my first computer about 3.5 years ago and it was pretty decent:

CPU: Intel i5 3570k
GPU: EVGA GTX 670 FTW
Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth z77
RAM: 2x4gb Corsair Vengeance ddr3-1600
Storage: 250gb Samsung 840 EVO
Storage: 1TB WD Caviar Blue
Power: Corsair 600w gold+
Monitor: 24" Asus 1080p monitor

Now I am thinking of trying to sell my current system and put it towards a new one with:

CPU: Intel i7 6700k
GPU: GTX 1070
Motherboard: Asus Maximus Hero VIII
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8gb - ddr4-3000
Storage: 500gb Samsung 850 EVO
Storage: 2 TB WD Caviar Blue
Power: Corsair AX760 Platinum+
Monitor: Acer Predator X34

Now my biggest expense will be upgrading the monitor as that one costs ~$1200. My main question is: Is there anything in my mock up that you would recommend me NOT getting? Or get something else instead?

Also, is there anything not worth upgrading from what I already have?

Thank you for any help/insight you can provide me.

Solution
Id just get the 1070 and see if it suits your needs. Ivy to skylake isn't a giant jump. If you still need more power you can do the rest later, but id just start with the 1070

Ok thanks for the info. Yeah that crossed my mind too. I could always get another 250gb SSD and the gtx 1070 instead of doing everything from scratch.

Any experience or knowledge about the monitor? It is definitely a little more than I would like to spend. I want at least 27", 2k, at least 100hz, and g-sync

And how about the RAM? is going from ddr3-1600 8gb --> ddr4-3000 16gb going to make any difference for gaming?
