Hey fellow overclockers,

What softwares should be used to stress test CPU, GPU and RAM for stability. Also, how long should the tests be run for? (Would be great if the softwares are free, also would like to install just one software for all the tests if possible)

Side notes: My cousin tried Furmark for GPU (GTX 970) testing, and it ran fine. However, as soon as he starts playing graphic intensive games, his PC would crash within 5-10 minutes of starting the game. So I am guessing Furmark isn't a good test....

Those will work. There are several benchmark pgms too that can stress the CPU too. Cinebench is one that runs all available threads at 100% usage to produce a detailed image. But it only runs until the image is created.
And yes, Heaven or Valley will do the job on the GPU in a more realistic gaming environment. Keep an eye on CPU and GPU usage with something like HWmon. That way you know how often the CPU/GPU is at or near 100% usage.

I use Furmark for the GPU, Intel Burn Test for the CPU, and Memtest for the RAM.
One possible reason your cousin may have trouble, is because Furmark only stresses the GPU. Gaming stresses both the CPU and GPU and the rest of the system. Adds much more load to the PSU. He may have a too-small, cheap, or failing PSU.
