My computer contains 8gb of ram, 2-1tb harddrives, an AMD FX(tm)-8320 Eight-Core Processor 3.50GHz Core, and a MSI Radeon R9 270X DirectX 11.2 R9 270X GAMING 2G 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card. I would like to record with OBS but receive massive lagspikes in my gameplay. Is it a problem with my $50 motherboard or is it something else? (I have OBS running on a seperate harddrive than my Operating system is).

Solution
If your clocks don't drop then your mobo is ok.
Games use several cores, obs can use all available cores,if you don't set things up correctly both will fight over the same resources.
You can use affinity in task manager to limit obs to two cores, and limit the game to the other 6 cores.
