Installing Windows 10 onto a new SSD

From what little research I've done, it seems as if all I have to do is use a flash drive which contains Microsoft's media creation tool, and without any other drives connected, simply install Windows 10 onto the new SSD. However, I have a few concerns. How will I go about doing this without having access to the key that's currently associated with my copy of Windows 10? I've read that Windows 10 will automatically detect my motherboard and therefore activate itself, but I'm not entirely sure if this is true or not. Secondly, how will I go about wiping my HDD to use it as storage for everything else? I'd assume that having Windows 10 on both drives would cause major problems.

Edit: I used the free upgrade from Microsoft, so I do not have access to anything which displays the key itself.

Edit 2: There's nothing of value on my HDD, so wiping it is of no concern.

Thanks!
