I have a mini-jack extension cable running from the back (So i can connect my headphones). It all started when while I was unplugging my headphones, I touched the extension. I got short of an electric shock from it. I don't think this is supposed to happen. My thought is that it happened because of a static charge. As soon as I touched it, the audio has stopped working on my pc.

In the bottom right there is the speaker icon with a red X on the bottom right. When I click it the troubleshooting window opens. Then, it says that I have no connected audio devices, when I have my speakers on the back ports and my headphones on the front panel. Drivers (Realtek HD Audio) is installed (checked that a lot of times, also deleted and re-installed them, latest version, always has been working)

I am using the built-in audio card of my motherboard. I can't make windows recognise any audio devices. Front panel audio not working too. Tried all the classic solutions (Rebooting, moving the cables, changing ports, checked the BIOS, disabling and re-enabling speakers and windows troubleshooting). Is it possible that static electricity ruined my mobo's audio chip?

Specs:
Windows 7 x64
Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 @2.13GHz
GIGABYTE G41MT-D3V (Mobo)
4GB DDR3 RAM
Intel G41 graphics

Bios is latest version (quite old). Tried resseting some of the settings, also tried getting the little battery out and putting it in again (Idk, I'm just frustrated...) I can't get knoppix to work though. I think it has to do with the onboard audio chip. Maybe I will have to buy an audio card eventually...
