Hello! So I was waiting 2 months for the launch of 1080 and 1070. I was sure I was going to buy an EVGA 1080 to finish my build but after consideration I find its price too much and overkill for my 2k monitor. So 1070 seems the better choice. Thing is I'v found a 980ti EVGA Kingpin edition with 75% Asic for 600 euros used from a friend with 2,5 years warranty left. From the benchmarks I'v seen the two cards go head to head in most games at 2k resolution so Im divided. My plan is to upgrade to a 1080ti when it comes out so the resell value is a factor to consider as well. Whats your opinion?

The 980ti kbe is compared to a 1080, and it is only slightlry slower. So it should perform better than a 1070. Although keep in mind that the 980ti is heavily OCed. The 1070 isnt. 980s and 980 tis are going down in price thats the issue. Another option you could do is have a 1070 now as its decent enough. And when a 1080 ti comes see if selling the 1070 and getting a 1080 ti is better or just adding another 1070.

I live in Europe so ill get a 1070 for around 500 euros. Thing is, will the advanced overclocking of a Kingpin edition outperform an overclocked 1070?

Y exactly. Kingpin 980ti should perform better in 90% of games compared to a 1070 @ 2k resolution. Thing is if DX12 will really make it worth going for SLI
