Or.. If you want the challenge, Can you create me a build on pcpartpicker for a maximum budget of £2,500 or $3566, if you need to go over by 100 or so it's fine.

Solution

Pcpartpicker often performs poorly ... almost half the stuff wasn't listed tho everything was quite east to find which is why I thot the link would be useless. Even the case for example ... it found the Primo, but couldn't find the Luxe, but there it was at all the same stores

For what its worth .....

Note that I edited the above post for more items.

Again, until we see pricing, it's hard to make the call on the twin 1070s versus 1080. I expect again that the 1080 will be long forgotten after the 1080 Ti comes out... the 1070 is just too strong a performer to justify the price difference.

The usually rant against SLI is that "some games...
1. I can't make a case for an X99 build with just 1 or 2 GFX cards.

2. I haven't used a HD in 5 years, use an SSHD for a huge performance increase.

3. Lose the CLC (cheap rad, weak pump), use an open loop cooler like the Swiftech H-240X2

4. Right now the MSI is looking like a favorite over the Asus
http://www.dvhardware.net/article64519.html

Also according to H.I. this is also the best custom design they so far tested.

5. The case and PSU don't stand up to the competition in this price range.

Will have to wait for the test over the next few days, but before pulling the trigger wanna see how the 1080 stacks up price performance wise against two 1070s

6. The Hue is redundant, cases are available with all that built in.

be back in bit w/ a build

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor (£260.28 @ Aria PC)
Again, you have npot given any indication of an application or usage which would benefit in any way from the X(( platform. the 6700k head to head is faster w/o such workstation like app,ls or a 3rd GFX card

CPU Cooler: EK Predator v1.1 360mm Premium AIO CPU Water Cooler (£209.98 @ San.uk)
Real water cooling that is expandable at some point to cool your GFX card(s) at some point down the line via the quick disconnect coupling. No weak pump, no aluminum rad, no mixed metals (gavanic corrosion) that you would see w/ the 110i

Motherboard: MSI Z170A XPOWER GAMING TITANIUM EDITION ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (£233.50 @ More Computers)
Simply put the best motherboard available today. Check user reviews
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130870
81% 5 eggs / 3% 1 egg

Compare that with just 42% 4 eggs and a whopping 30% 1 egg board owner ratings for the Asus X99-A

Memory: Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 Memory (£77.99 @ Ebuyer)

Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (£107.00 @ Amazon UK)

Storage: Seagate 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Hybrid Internal Hard Drive (£75.99 @ Ebuyer)
SSHD will toast the HD ...

Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Video Card (2-Way SLI) (£420 assumed)

Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Video Card (2-Way SLI) (£420 assumed)

Went with two 1070s to set price as this option will be a bit more costly ... a single 1080 will be less expensive about 40% slower than two 1070s.

Case: Phanteks Enthoo Luxe White ATX Full Tower Case (£129.95 @ Overclockers.co.uk)
Better case with built in fan control and LED control system (internal and external)

Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA P2 850W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply (£120.83 @ CCL Computers)

Optical Drive: Samsung SH-224DB/RSBS DVD/CD Writer (£17.86 @ CCL Computers)

Might wanna add one of these on back of HD cage for providinmg air flow between the two GFX cards (£12.99) if ya choose SLI

Thanks, Could i get the pcpartpicker link?

The usually rant against SLI is that "some games don't support it"... and the answer is "do you care about those games ?" If you are already getting 90 fps w/ one card, do you care if SLI takes you nowhere ? IS it worth paying twice as much if the x80 takes you to 100 ?

What we saw with the 9xx series is that that twin 970s had 60ish fps performance w/90% scaling in numerous AAA games whereas the 980 languished at 35-40 ... that is where performance matters. When SLI scaling is poor, it still beats the 980. And in the single game in techpowerups 19 game test suite where the 980 beat the 970s in SLI .. it was not a popular game (Wolfenstein NO) and it wasn't a big win 62 to 54 fps.
