Hi everyone this is my first SSD installation. I installed the SSD and used the Windows 10 feature to wipe my drive and reinstall Windows.

The computer reads my Windows file on my USB and then restarts. I am prompted to enter my product key and select custom installation after that it shows my drives.

When looking at the drives I see Drive 0 partition 1 recovery, Drive 0 partition 2 100mb, Drive 0 partition 3 16mb, Drive 0 partition one 232.3gb (primary), Drive 1 in allocated space 465.8gb.

I have been doing the drive 0 partition 4 since I am assuming this is my SSD. It will then install Windows ( copying files etc) and the it will prompt a restart and then back to the product key page.

What am I doing wrong? Could it be how installed it? Both are connected with SATA cables to the motherboard and both are powered through a single SATA cable connected to the PSU.

Thank you

After you allocate that space, create New Simple Volume, Format, and give it a drive letter

In Disk Management, right click on that. What options does it give you?

Power off
Disconnect ALL other drives besides the SSD
Power on and boot from your install media
When it asks 'where', Custom
Delete ALL existing partitions on the drive, leaving one large space
Use that for a single partition
Continue, and let Windows create what it needs.

Thank you for the quick reply, I uninstalled my regular HDD so it just showed my SSD I deleted all partians including the SSD so I was just left with the 230gb drive, I went to install Windows onto that but I am back to the product key screen again.

So it started the install process?
And asked for the license key?

Was there a Win 10 OS on this system before?
If so, skip that and continue on. It will activate once installed and online.

Yes Windows was previously installed, I wanted to reinstall Windows onto the SSD. I skipped the product key page this time and selected Drive 0 unallocated 230gb (SSD) I seem to be in a never ending loop of it installing Windows and then taking me back to the beginning install now screen.

Should I try making the SSD as my boot priority? I can change it when it restarts after it installs windows

"I don't have one" (Down at the bottom of that dialog box)
Click that

Is it all working properly with ONLY the SSD connected?
As in a couple of power off/power on cycles?
