My corsair vs450 is dying and I need a new power supply. I believe that the vs series is considered bad (tier 4). A psu calculator said i should use a 300w psu but I plan to upgrade my gtx 750TI to a 1070 at the end of the year. I want something cheap that can power the 1070 but will be reliable. My processor is a i5 4590s (Haswell). Does anyone have recommendations on which psu I should get?

After looking at both PCWorld and Maplin, it seems the range of PSU's being offered is severely limited, and the pricing of at least reasonable quality PSU's seem to be around €100 +.

Here are a couple of other possible PSU's to consider -

EVGA 650GQ

Corsair RM550x <- presently out of stock though

As the price of quality PSU's, including the Antec and XFX Pro listed previously, seem to be around the €100 area, then it is suggested that money be saved to purchase one of these quality PSU's. Don't be tempted to buy a low(er) quality PSU, unless it is critical to get the computer running urgently.

Hmm looks good but I was thinking of something around 40-50 euro.

Im in ireland. I can get the evga g2 750 in a store near me but it costs 120 euro. The only other psu's they have are corsair cx series but iv'e hear there bad. And amazon don't ship most things to Ireland, and newegg look for about 60 euro to ship something.

These two PSU's are fairly good quality, although it seems to be quite expensive with the shipping cost added.

If shipping seems expensive to your location (even from UK "Mainland"), then the other option is to purchase PSU's locally.

So what make (and preferably the model also) of PSU's are available via local stores?

There is only two shops that I can find that sell components in ireland, that is PC World/Currys and maplin. Pc world and maplin both have the whole Corsair CX series and Pc world has an evga 750w GQ Gold rated psu for 120 euro.
